Patriotism

2023-09-30

The gunshot of the July 7 Incident in 1937 marked the launch of the Japanese full-scale invasion of China, and China was at risk of national subjugation. From the 9.18 Incident in 1931 until the Unconditional Surrender of Japan on August 15, 1945, the Chinese nation had sacrificed a lot in fighting against the invasion in the past 14 years. In the land of China, the indomitable heroes and invincible people defeated foreign enemies with unity and courage, so that the banner of patriotism can flutter gloriously in the air.

Time flows, yet the past is not vanishing like smoke. Looking back on the course of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the humiliation of being intimidated and the cruelty of the war still make me tremble, the sacrifice of heroes and the sufferings and tears of the common people are still fresh in my eyes, the feeling that everyone is responsible for the rise and fall of the world still resonates within my heart, and the belief that justice will triumph over evil continues to inspire me.

The patriotic feeling that everyone is responsible for the rise and fall of their nation, the nationalistic integrity of preferring death to surrender at the time of aggression by other nations, the heroic spirit of fighting dauntlessly against powerful enemies to the end, and the indomitable belief that victory will favor those who withstand all setbacks — all of these spirits, condensed and elevated during the War of Resistance, have contributed greatly to the accomplishment of the Chinese nation in her economic development since 1949.

The best way to commemorate history is to always remember and never forget. The best tribute to the revolutionary heroes is to inherit their spirit and continue their cause. The spirits inherited from the War of Resistance have been disseminated to every citizen and become our spiritual support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Patriotism is always the greatest common denominator for the Chinese people, whether it is to resist foreign aggression in times of war or to defend her territory in times of peace. For each of us, although the bitter history of humiliation has gone, we should not lose our awe of history, instead, we are supposed to inherit the spirit of heroes and elevate the belief of loving our family and loyalty to our nation.
