Green travel means using the travel mode that has the least impact on the environment, that is, taking more public transport such as buses and subways, walking or riding bicycles when going out. Why is it that "green travel" is now strongly advocated?
The development of the automobile industry has brought efficiency and convenience to human beings, but at the same time, the quick development of the automobile has caused the problems that most people can think of — energy consumption and air pollution. So the government has rolled out a series of measures to customize bus routes, build bike lanes and further promote new and clean energy, and so on.
People prefer driving private cars, because of the mobility, short distance to walk and less waiting time compared to taking public transportations such as buses and subways. Besides, private cars eliminate the trouble of crowded subways and buses during rush hours. However, a large number of private cars make the traffic congestion more complicated to be dealt with, especially in metropolitans. Therefore, many city governments in China advocate and pave the way for the travel mode of "cycling and public transportation over private cars". The governments encourage the citizens to take more low-carbon and green travel modes such as buses, bicycles, or walking, and convince car buyers to choose cars with low fuel consumption, low emissions, and low pollution. The existing roads are newly paved to ensure buses run at a fast speed with the establishment of special bus routes such as Bus Rapid Transit. On the other hand, bus stops are arranged to the extent that the bus-takers will have to walk as short a distance as possible. Such measures greatly attract many citizens to travel by bus.
Green travel is a moderation of simplicity and a low-carbon lifestyle. Since the practice of such a concept, our living environment has obviously improved. In my opinion, practicing green travel is our best gift for the future generation.
