点评 ：7、为了使自己的信念变为现实，安危 1982 年首次访美时第一次去麦迪逊小镇看望海伦，这次访问进一步加深了他对这位伟大女性的理解和同情，并使他得出第二个结论 ：海伦是一位在富裕社会与贫穷抗争，在艰难的环境中继续为中美友好事业默默写作的伟大女性。

汉译英时，灵活使用充当定语功能的现在分词非常重要，充当定语的现在分词实际上相当于一个省略关系代词的定语从句，只是这个定语从句不必考虑时态和单复数，此处的living=who lived。

译 文 中 的 during which 相 当 于 during the time/the period/the course of …，既可用于限制性定语从句也可用于非限制性定语从句 ；可指时间、过程或阶段，意为“在…期间 / 过程中 /阶段”。

（1）during which 用于限制性定语从句时，修饰对象为先行词，先行词在定语从句中表“在……期间 / 过程中”。

如 ：September and October are the months of the year during which most English people take their holidays.

一年中 9、10 两个月是大多数英国人休假的月份。

说明 ：句中的 during which = and during the time of the months of the year ：“ 一年中的这两个月间”。

In 1988, Vietnam and china fought a brief naval battle during which more than 70 Vietnamese sailors died.

1988 年，越南和中国曾进行过一次小规模海战，70 多名越南士兵在战斗中丧生。

说 明 ：句 中 的 during which=and during the course of the brief naval battle ，指“小规模海战期间”。

（2）during which 用于非限制性定语从句时，不修饰整个句子，只修饰句子中的某个词（组），被修饰的词（组），在从句中表“在……期间 / 过程中”。

如 ：She kept her vow for a week, during which she was unusually cross and fretful.

她信守誓言有一星期之久，但在这一星期内，她显得五心烦躁，动不动就发脾气。

说 明 ：句 中 的 during which=and during the time of the week 指“在这一星期期间”。

He died in the Anti-Japanese War, during which my grandfather fought side by side with him.

他在抗日战争中为国捐躯，在抗战期间，我祖父曾与他并肩战斗过。

说 明 ：句 中 的 during which=and during the period of the Anti-Japanese War，指“在抗日战争期间”。

2、在某些方面，她的功绩超过了埃德加，《西行漫记》应该是两个斯诺合作的产物。

3、3 年后的 1985 年 8 月 , 在呼和浩特举行的“斯诺国际研讨会”上，由于埃德加的第二任妻子路易斯·惠勒的出席，安危没有贸然提出关于海伦的论文，只是为这次研讨会翻译了 1937 年两个斯诺的 20 多封书信，并在会上散发。

rather than 的用途很广，当 rather than 作为连词理解时，根据英语“平行结构”的要求，此时 rather than 前后的单词要保持词性和结构的一致，如 ：

再 如 ：Another clear message being sent was that Charles was here for the long haul, the throne would be a lifelong commitment for him, for all“the remaining time God grants me”. But it was an important, tone-setting speech that was absent of any pomposity, promising to serve rather than to rule.

In other words, in 1970s, if An Wei truly wanted to do something for Helen, he had to be prudent as much as possible to minimize the risk of offending other scholars when he ventured to speak out against injustice for Helen.

7、在这种思想指导下，他默默地从翻译海伦两次重返中国所写的文章和著作入手，尽可能地利用各种场合和机会把海伦介绍给中国青年一代，帮助他们了解这位曾被遗忘的杰出女性。

Guided by this ideology,he started from translating Helen’s articles and books and seized any possible chance to introduce her to young generations of China, helping them build upunderstanding of this once-forgotten exceptional female writer.

英语体现主从关系，除了使用从句，还可使用分词短语。英语有现在分词，还有过去分词，且用法灵活多变。分词引导的短语，可放在句首，可放在句中，也可放在句末。英译汉时并不构成什么困难，往往可和普通动词同样处理。大概也正因为如此，汉译英时往往想不到发挥英语的这一特点，使译文显出层次，而只知一味使用并列动词。因此要想提高译文质量，要有意识用好分词短语。

如 ：中国始终不渝地奉行独立自主的和平外交政策，中国对外政策的最高宗旨是和平。

Unswervingly pursuing an independent foreign policy of peace, China takes peace as the ultimate goal of its foreign policy.

再如 ：现在，中国和东盟各国都在抓住历史机遇，按照各自的国情制定发展战略，不断发展社会生产力，保持经济的持续增长。

At present, both China and ASEAN countries, seizing opportunities presented by history, have formulated development strategies in light of their own national conditions and continued to develop the productive forces and maintain a sustained economic growth.

8、 应 该 说， 这 段 时 间 应 确 定 为 我 国 海伦·斯诺研究的起源阶段，也是安危与海伦建立友谊的初级阶段。

To sum up, the origin of the study of Helen Snow in China could be exactly traced back tothis period（1970s-1980s）when friendship between An Wei and Helen initially began.

从孙少平和孙少安身上，我们会发现他们的共同点 ：不停歇的奋斗和努力。无论是出走远方去看一看“辽阔世界”的孙少平，还是留在双水村白手起家、办砖厂发家致富的孙少安，即使所处的环境不同，他们都怀揣着自己的梦想，大步向理想生活走去，从不回头。

在做生产队长时，在复杂的环境之下，孙少安却敢于冒险实施自己的大胆的想法。他似乎不曾停止敢想敢做，在拉砖的工作时又想到了开砖厂，即使中途会有插曲，但却从未放弃过，他的人生轨迹似乎没有安逸和享受，永远都在拼搏，在做实实在在的事，追求更好的生活。弟弟孙少平亦是如此，不论是多脏乱差的环境，只要有书读，那里便是净土。他一直在极力追求心中的梦想，构建更高的精神境界。在辛苦工作的间隙，他仍然坚持不懈阅读名著、报刊、杂志，从未停止学习的脚步，用阅读之光照亮前行的路。

马云说 ：“对我影响的人是路遥。是路遥的作品改变了我，让我意识到不放弃总有机会，否则我现在还在蹬三轮车呢。”潘石屹说 ：“这本书我一共看了七遍，每一次在我人生低潮的时候、碰到困难的时候，觉得这个坎过不去的时候，我就读上一遍《平凡的世界》。”
