An ancient Chinese aphorism pointed out that “a man of excellence cannot be overshad‐owed, for he will reveal his brilliance at the ap‐pointed time.” At the 7th Military World Games in October 2019, Pan Yucheng, an aver‐age soldier, competed and won the military pen‐tathlon, turning him into a symbol of pride for the country. That is the outcome of his unwav‐ering determination and tenacity to emerge vic‐torious. Similarly, we, the youth of today, must go above and beyond trials and tribulations inpursuit of our dreams towards a brighter future.
YEU kicks off its annual sports meet in November, the final leg of autumn, under a clear sky and a cool breeze. The amount of sweat that each player has produced during their regular workouts cannot be calculated. It is also impossible to quantify how they manage to overcome their constraints. I was reminded of a statement I had once recited: "Those forefa‐thers who made history demonstrated indomi‐table persistence as well as exceptional skills."Here come the vigorous and aggressive players on the track and on the field. They are enthusi‐astic and dauntless, sprinting, jumping, and casting with all of their might, oblivious to their exhausted and perspiring bodies. Their steadfast conviction drives them to compete with the goal of winning the championship for both the group they represent and for them‐selves.
Kudos to all the players for their excel‐lent performances!
